Student Participation
- Students participated in the lesson by reading passages from the textbook and responding to T's questions
- 5 out of the 6 students seemed to be engaged and following along—the only student that was somewhat checked out toward the end was ahead of the group and had already done the lesson
- One English learner was involved in the lesson—she was given opportunities to read aloud and answer questions
- T ensured that all students had at least one opportunity to read and that all of the them were being called on to answer questions
- T provided ample wait time after asking questions, then deferred to one of the two more vocal students when no one else responded
- T would correct mistakes with something like, “That is true too, but companies also need insurance because...”
- Ratio of teacher talk to student talk was good—T allowed students to do most of the reading and summarizing/paraphrasing
